Kayser-Threde Introduces Wireless CrashLink® Adapter

Munich, Germany, April 26, 2002: Kayser-Threde introduces the model K3770 WLAN Hub, a new CrashLink® compatible device. The CrashLink® Hub enables the user to establish a wireless communication between on-board devices and the PC in the control room. If the CrashLink® Hub is used together with an on-board battery K3785, a test can be performed completely without trailing cables. The maximum wireless communication range between launch of vehicle and impact position is 400 m. The wireless on-board system contains the CrashLink® Hub K3770 and the on-board antenna. The antenna is very small and can easily be mounted on the top of a vehicle.

Integration
The CrashLink® Hub acts as one part of a wireless bridge. The hub provides a connection between the existing MINIDAU® equipment, the new In-DummyData Acquisition System MICRODAU® and the wireless bridge itself. Trigger inputs and T0 outputs simplify the connection to external devices. The power for the CrashLink® Hub is provided within the CrashLink® (18-36V DC). The CrashLink® Hub has the same footprint and mounting possibilities as the 32-channel MINIDAU®. Therefore, it can be easily mounted together with other on-board devices.
The off-board part of the system contains a wireless Bridge with connections to the off-board antenna and the Ethernet LAN via a 10BaseT port. The antenna will be installed, depending on the environment, near the middle or at the end of a test track. If mounted beside the middle of the track distances up to 400 can be realized.

Data Security
Configuration software installed on the control PC provides the security mechanism for the wireless bridge. A restricted access to the system is realized by designated MAC and IP addresses. A high security mechanism via state of the art encryption is also provided to ensure a maximum of security.

Benefits

  • Trailing cables, which usually could be cut,are no longer necessary.
  • No influence of test conditions (movement)
  • Seamless integration into existing installations without changing the infrastructure
  • More Flexibility for test applications
  • Protection of investment due to the fact that the hub can be used for the MINIDAU® and the new MICRODAU®
  • Long distances up to 400 meter can be realized
